Og's Story Time
Listen to "A Tale of Two Beasts" by Fiona Roberton (read by Sarah Silverman) and complete the activities below:
• Everyone has their own perspective, or way of seeing things. On one half of a paper, draw a picture to show how the girl viewed keeping the beast as a pet. On the other half, draw how the beast viewed being taken and kept as a pet. How did their views differ?
• Write a letter to the girl from the beast and tell her what she could have done differently to respect the beast.

Patriotic Headband
Create your own patriotic headband to wear with your parade float. Use the headband and star templates to color and glue your headband or get creative and design your own.
The activities in this section are best suited for children ages 3 and up and cover a variety of learning domains. Fill out the daily schedule template available below and for more fun, add in some of the additional resources available when you download "More Activities."
Thank You to Military Letter
Independence Day is a great time to say thank you to our military. Write a letter to say thank you to an Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine unit located in your local area. Include some red, white, and blue artwork or drawings to share!
Red, White, Blue Color Mashup
Explore color mixing with red, white, and blue nontoxic paints. Place one color in each corner of a piece of paper. With your brush, pick up a little of one color and place it in the middle of your paper. Then take a little of another color and combine with the first color. What happened? Combine two different colors in another section. Finally, combine all three colors. What did you notice?
Jump for July 4th
Play your favorite music and jump to the beat on July 4th! Can you jump with both feet fast and then slowly? How about one foot?
Counting My Stars
Using the numeral cards and star template, play a simple addition game. First, lay all numeral cards face down. Draw a number card and count out that many stars. Draw another number card and add that many stars to the pile. How many stars in total?
Wonder (Ages 0-2)
The activities in this section are best suited for children up to age 2 and cover a variety of learning domains. Fill out the daily schedule template available below and for more fun, add in some of the additional resources available when you download "More Acitivites."
Parade Float
Everyone loves a parade! Host your own July 4th “parade” using a wagon or other wheeled toy. Decorate the wagon like a parade float (use recycled pieces of colored paper. You may want to use patriotic colors of red, white and blue. Tape to the wagon and add messages with USA-inspired themes).
I am a Star!
Using the star template, write your child’s name in one of the stars. Place it on their bedroom door, toy shelf, or another space that is theirs. Children often learn to recognize the letters in their own name first, so labeling items that belong to them is a purposeful way to introduce their name.
Independence Day Dough
Divide white modeling dough into 3 separate bowls. Add blue food coloring to one bowl and red to another bowl (leave the third bowl white). Mix until the dough is evenly colored. Then mix the 3 colors of dough together. What happens?
July 4th Parade March
Practice marching in different directions for your July 4th “parade” with Percy! As you march, lift your knees up high and look forward. Can you march backward and sideways, too?
Star Patterns
Using the star template, cut out the stars. Make simple A, B patterns by coloring stars using two different colors (example: red, blue, red, blue).
